Principal

Principal, Sarah Finch, is a firm believer that all students can achieve academic, behavioral, and life goals with hard work, focus, and the drive to be successful.  Every child has specific gifts and talents, and it is the job of our school and our families to help the next generation find their way and make the best choices.  Our students are the future of our community and our nation.

"Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself."                                                                                                  ~John Dewey

Ms. Finch began teaching in 1990 at Blue Ridge Elementary and has taught Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd grades.  She was named Teacher of the Year at BRES in 1994 and was the runner up Fannin County School Sytem Teacher of the Year.  From 2002-2008 Ms. Finch served as an Elementary Curriculum Specialist for the Fannin County School System, traveling to all three elementary schools to assist teachers and monitor student progress in reading.  In the fall of 2008, Ms. Finch chose to return to the classroom and taught 3rd grade at Blue Ridge Elementary.  Most recently Ms. Finch served as the Academic Coach at BRES from 2009-2012.  In that capacity she carefully reviewed student progress data and conducted observations in classrooms to help teachers determine which instructional practices were most effective and would result in increased student achievement.  She was also the Chairperson for the School Improvement Team.

Ms. Finch, a 1987 Fannin County Comprehensive High School graduate, has earned both a Specialist (1996) and Masters (1993) degree in Early Childhood Education from Mercer University and North Georgia College and State University respectively.  She has also earned a second Masters (2000) degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University.  Ms. Finch is certified to teach pre-K through 5th grades or hold a leadership position in a K through 12th grade setting.

Outside of school Ms. Finch lives with her three children Tripp, Aaron, and Mollie in the Epworth area.  She is an avid reader and enjoys running and spending time with her family.
